Well, I’m impressed – today was a GREAT DAY AT GUMSABA!

You all were so up to the challenge of my tough mudder Monday it shocked me. Every day, and I dont know how, you amaze me more and more with your dedication to life. Kudos, you all RULE MY WORLD!

Excited about the WARRIOR DASH next month! I will be sending out an email with all the details so you can get your dirt on!

Your assignment today was huge, and FYI no one finished.

Be with us tomorrow to get the rest of Michelle’s Tough Mudder Special Workout DONE. Sorry, but after reflecting on it, you can’t do the TM workout on your own so it will not be posted. You can look forward to the DIY tomorrow!

Well, we did it. 12+ (some claim 13) miles and somehow they managed to make most of it up hill. The event is still a work in progress, Chad wasnt able to get any photos of us until the finish because there was no directions on where to go to see us, or what time we might arrive! He did take photos of some of the obstacles, and you can see the professional photos here. I havent looked for any of us yet, so if you find one of Coach Morgan or I please let us know!

The Obstacles Were (aside from nearly 13 miles of grueling mountain climbing!)

Big Red Balls
Mud Crawl
Death march
Ice cold Jacuzzi
Chernobyl Jacuzzi
Mt Everest
Monkey bars
Rope Climb
Devil’s beard
Hold your wood
Rock Slide
Berlin walls 1
Walk the plank
Swim the lake and barrel duck
Boa Constrictor
Berlin Walls 2
Hay Bails
Twinkle Toes
Electroshock Therapy

Next year we want to have a huge group of ladies do it, so please post if you are IN! It was hard, but really the most fun I have had in quite some time! So looking forward to next year. And, if that is too far away (or maybe a bit too much for you) sign up for the Warrior Dash with us!

As many of you know, Coach Morgan and I are participating in the Nor Cal Tough Mudder on Saturday at Squaw Valley!

What many of you dont know is that I am doing this in honor of my Mom. Through my years Martial Arts Training at East West Kung Fu, I have learned so many wonderful things about myself, and about life. One of the concepts that has affected me the most is training myself to turn a negative into a positive; to seek the solution inside the “problem”. Training for this event has been my way of taking the pain that I am experiencing from losing my mom, and turning it into something she would be proud of. She was in a ski accident when I was only 6 and nearly lost her leg; so my mom couldn’t run. it took 38 surgeries to save and restore it just so that she could walk! When I train, I feel her with me; now when I run, I feel her life, her laugh, her wonderful heart beating with mine, her energy flowing through me. I feel her pushing me to be the best person I can be, to live to my full potential.

When things are rough, when life deals you a hand that most would fold, find the card you CAN play. Don’t focus on what a crappy hand you have been dealt, if anything, be thankful you have a hand to hold the cards with!

TO LIFE, TO MOM!!! GO GUMSABA!

You know i love supporting my local stores, especially the mom and pop like Forward Motion. I did visit there today in the hopes to find a red shirt (our team color is red this weekend for the Tough Mudder), but came up empty handed. Not one red shirt. :/

So I followed Chad’s advice and visited Zappos online. This is one great shop. I have used Zappos for shoes before, but never for workout gear.

I was able to narrow down my search by style, color and brand – plus a bunch of other options I didnt use, too many to count! Click here to see my search for a tank top, in  red, by Nike. Instantly I had a bunch of options I liked.

As well, when you click on the item you want to buy, you have the option of seeing multipule views, as well as watching a video of a model moving in the shirt. You can even get the exact models stats so you know better how it will fit on you. So cool!

I was a bit concerned that having placed the order at 3 on Tuesday I would receive it on Friday. This would not be good; we are leaving for the TM on Friday morning! When I called the customer help line to find out how long shipping would take, they upgraded me to VIP and told me I will get free overnight shipping on every order I place from here forward, and that my shirt will be here on Thursday. And get this, if i don’t like it, they pay the shipping back!

I just wanted to share this excellent experience with all of you; someone at Zappos is REALLY listening to their customer; hope I am as satisfied with the purchase. :)

Mia Liss did the Teen Boot Camp this summer which helped her conquer the wake, stunning her family with her huge air. Check out that awesome squat form! Mia is the daughter of one of our Gumsaba Sunrise campers, Mrs. Amy Liss. Let’s hear it for the Liss ladies!

Please send in your photos going big, GO GUMSABA!

Mia Liss going gumsaba!

We had a blast on Friday at camp, the great tomato race was ON! Congrats to everyone, the photos from the Sunrise class were too dark to post, so here are some from the Sunshine class. We had a great conversation at the end of class about why we go Gumsaba; there were some wonderful answers…post yours!

TOMATO! Come to class tomorrow…

They aren't quite the size of Maui, but they are big Kahunas!

and one of these could be yours!
